Due to the rain forecasted in the area on Tuesday, W-L Construction anticipates beginning the process of paving and milling along Grayson Turnpike on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. The duration of this operation will begin at 7:30 a.m. until approximately 6:00 p.m. The area that will be affected by this project extends southward from West Main Street to the Town of Wytheville’s southern corporate limits at Reed Creek. Motorists should expect to encounter traffic control operations in this area during the posted hours, so please expect delays when traveling.

Request for Bids for a Franchise for Electric Light, Heat, and Power Transmission and Distribution System
Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, will conduct a public hearing, pursuant to §15.2-2101 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, and will receive bids to obtain a non-exclusive franchise, privilege, lease or right for an electric light, heat, and power transmission and distribution system that is proposed to be granted at its regular meeting to be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, in the Council Chambers, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia. The Town of Wytheville invites bids to be submitted in writing and delivered to Brian Freeman, Town Manager, by May 13, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. to be opened during the Town Council's regular meeting. The Town Council shall have the right to reject any and all bids. A sample of a proposed Franchise Agreement is available for inspection in the Office of the Town Clerk, 150 East Monroe Street, during regular office hours of Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except for legal holidays.
